YES! Sea Duck Cottage vacation home in Maine has private access to the beach. You do have to go down stairs and when the tide is low – the sandy, rocky beach is a fantastic place to walk along the coast and enjoy the fresh air and view the beauty of Maine.
Summer temperatures are very mild in Maine. We do not have A/C in the homes. There is A/C in the sunroom and if you add the loft to your rental – there is an A/C unit. We do have ceiling fans and portable fans; however, when you open windows (screened only) you get a nice cool breeze that keeps the house cool.
Spring, summer or fall is by far the best time to visit. Spring can be COLD! But then it can be very nice in the 60’s. Summer is the most popular as the days are filled with sunshine and the evenings are cool and pleasant. Fall is absolutely gorgeous with the color changes and the weather is still very mild during the day and cool in the evenings.
We do accept dogs. Max 1 dog. We must charge $98 so our cleaners can do some extra cleaning for allergy prone guests (and owners!)
Check out the average temperature in Jonesport by the ocean. Mid July it may get to 68 in the afternoon..but when the sun goes down 50’s. We do have A/C in the Guest Bedroom and Guest House. We added new picture windows that cannot be open so A/C is installed IF you need it..chances are you will not. windows with screens in all rooms and ceiling fans. From an owner that has NEVER lived without A/C…Maine is really nice in the summer!
Depends on what you like and what you want to do on your Maine vacation. Most people go on vacation to relax and enjoy spending time with family and friends. Sea Duck Cottage is perfect for this. Acadia National Park & Bar Harbor are about 50 min away so lots of cute shops and hiking trails in Acadia National Park. You can also head to Eastport and head over to Canada to Campobello, FDR’s summer retreat. A nice day trip. Make sure you get your picture at the easternmost point of the contiguous United States. West Quoddy Head, located in Quoddy Head State Park, Lubec, Maine. This point is marked by the iconic red and white striped West Quoddy Head Lighthouse. The lighthouse was first built in 1808 and the current structure dates back to 1858. It’s an active aid to navigation, guiding mariners through the Quoddy Narrows.
